Magnetic heat pump under development

Nov. 25, 2005 - Switzerland - The magnetocaloric effect is known for a long time yet, but only today the materials and calculation program needed are available in order to search for application in refrigerators and heat pumps.

A first magnetic heat pump/chiller was developed at the Fachhochschule EIVD in Yverdon-les-Bains (Switzerland). The state-of-the-arts was discussed at the first international conference on "Magnetic Refrigeration at Room Temperatures" in Montreux, 27-30 September 2005.
