Japanese Eco Cute shipments exceed 2 million landmark

Nov. 27, 2009 - Shipments of Japanese CO2 heat pumps have exceeded 2 million units as of the end of October 2009. To mark the event, 3 Japanese industry associations are launching the "Thank you! 2 million EcoCute" campaign. In addition, a target of 10 million Eco Cute units by FY 2020 has been set.

More patent applications for ground source HVACs in Korea

Oct. 30, 2009 - The Korean Industrial Property Office (KIPO) reports that 90 patent applications related to ground-source heating and air conditioning technology were filed in 2008. Patent applications for 2009 are up substantially, making an almost three-fold jump over 2008.

Oct. 23, 2009 - On 28 July 2009 the China Heat Pump Water Heater Union officially announced its founda­tion by the China Energy Conserva­tion Association, International Copper Association (China) and ten major air-to-water (ATW) heat pump water heater manufacturers.

Oct. 07, 2009 - The "Swedish Ground Source Heat Pump Case Study" was published by the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences in July 2009. This study identifies aspects of Swedish experience in embracing ground source heat pump technology over the last 25 years.

ATW heat pumps to qualify for UK business tax incentive scheme

Sep. 11, 2009 - The 2009 draft of a list that details the criteria for each type of technology that qualifies for the Enhanced Capital Allowance scheme, the main UK scheme encouraging businesses to invest in energy-saving equipment, for the first time considers single split and packaged air-to-water heat pumps.

UK heat pump potential greater than previously thought

Jul. 29, 2009 - As the UK Government is heading towards setting up a Renewable Heat Incentive, a Government commissioned study has significantly revised upwards the renewable heat potential offered by heat pumps. The document maintains that most renewable heat at low cost could come from the industrial and commercial/public sectors.

Heat pump market growing fast in China

Jul. 06, 2009 - According to JARN, the heat pump water heaters market in China is growing fast, with sales having reached an estimated 250,000 units in 2008. Although R22 remains the refrigerant of choice at present, some local players have recently begun to develop CO2 compressors and heat pump systems.

180 million Swiss francs to support heat pumps & natural refrigerants

Jul. 01, 2009 - The Zurich government agreed on a new funding programme to support investments in climate-friendly and efficient systems in order to reduce CO2 emissions. From 2015 on at least 50% of all produced heat or cold has to be CO2-free or CO2-neutral, while half of the heat pumps have to be equipped with natural refrigerants.

Heat pumps attract more funding in the UK

Apr. 29, 2009 - Last week the UK government announced measures that will increase the availability of funding for the installation of heat pumps. Additional funding for small-scale renewable heat technologies, such as heat pumps were announced in the UK Budget 2009, while the main grants scheme tackling fuel poverty in England will now cover the installation of air source heat pumps.
